puppy dream

I want a pup
a golden one
to cheer me up
and to calm me down
I want it so bad

with velvet ears
and a silky nose
and if if chews
on my favorite shoes
I wouldn't be mad

What if it scratched on my door?
me unaware what went on
imagine my surprise

when there's the pup of my dream
with cuddly fur like whipped cream
and paws like woolly mittens

we walk through parks
and we roll down hills
we play and bark
and laugh until
we both fall apart

and every day's a
living dream
a puppy life is a carefree thing
there is no tomorrow

we like to fetch rubber balls
and run around chasing crows
and snarl at other people

and when it rains we run hide
under a tree for a while
and all is fun and easy

I want a pup
a golden thing
who howls along
when I sing
I want it so bad

who tells me
I am not alone
and shares with me
its favourite bone
it would make my glad
